A TOTAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Washington Parish Public Transit offers demand-response and subscription transportation services on a non-emergency basis.  Vehicle types include 12 passenger lift-equipped, handicapped accessible vans and 7 passenger accessiable minivans.  Services are provided curb-to-curb.

SERVICE AREA

Services are provided for any person residing within the geographic area of Washington Parish.  Passengers may be transported to any destination located within parish boundaries. WPPT does not cross state lines.  Specific routes and schedules are available upon request.

DAYS AND HOURS OF OPERATION

Vehicle operation hours are from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm  Monday through Friday. Requests for rides will not be accepted after 2:00 pm two days prior to the requested trip. The first pickup will not be before 6:00am and the last pickup will be no later than 4:00pm for all general public trips.  Office hours are
Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.  Specific schedules for certain areas may be obtained by contacting (985) 732-6868. Services may be available at other times.  Please call for more information.

RESERVATION

All trips are scheduled on a first come, first served call in basis.  Demand response trips are trips where  the rider calls for service each time a trip is desired.  These must be received no later  than 2:00 pm at least two days prior to requested trip.  Same day request will be honored on a first come-first serve, space available basis.

SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES

Subscription services are recurring trips that the rider does not need to call in for each time services are desired.  These trips are scheduled on a weekly basis.  WPPT maintains a waiting list for subscription trips if there is not enough space to accomodate a riders request.

PASSENGER ASSISTANCE

Drivers provide minimal assistance to passengers boarding vehicles.  If you require additional or special assistance you should have a personal care attendant accompany you on trips.  Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

WHEELCHAIR AND MOBILITY DEVICES

WPPT is a fully accessible transportation system.  We operate lift-equipped vehicles throughout the entire service area. Drivers are trained in passenger assistance techniques designed to aid the elderly and disabled passengers.
